Use

The SNIP::STATUS command can be used to obtain a human readable set of the mountPt entries along with their relative status, up time, and data flow rates.

This information is updated in near real time and allows users to quickly confirm the state of a given Base Station stream.

The command is sent to any SNIP caster as if it was a mountPt request, here are two typical examples:

The first of these returns the current page for this Caster (where the RTK2go service is enabled).  The second returns a reply that the SNIP protocol is disabled for open use on that machine.  Each SNIP operator can decide what messages and features are to be supported.

Additonal helpful message content is not returned to clients when connections fail. SNIP-2-SNIP support is not enabled at this time.

Key Points

The returned report contains four sections of note.

  1. A header with the name of the Caster and whom to contact.
  2. A summary of each current mountPt, expressed in alpha order and listing these details:
    • The mountPt name  (hidden mountPts are not listed)
    • How long the current connection has been up for, the time since last connection loss
    • How long stream has been connect over the life of SNIP (since SNIP last restart)
    • A percentage of these two (provide an general indication of the connection reliability)
    • The message format type (RTCM. uBlox, CMR, etc.)
    • Where the stream is located (and a link to map this when provided)
  3. Streams that are not longer connected or present
    • These are listed by the mountPt used
  4. A few statistical details about the Caster itself.

Note that the source IP and other details about the data source are not provided (these can be seen on the SNIP console using similar reports).

Additional details about the individual Caster can be obtained with suitable password access control, but that is typically a private matter between the Base Station data provider and the Caster operator.
